Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia believes an educated Georgia is a stronger Georgia.

To support that goal — and to invest in its employees — the University System of Georgia (USG) offers the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).

TAP helps eligible employees grow professionally by making it easier to continue their education and build new skills.

Eligibility

TAP is open to active, full-time (1.0 FTE), benefits-eligible employees who are pursuing a credential and have worked in a benefits-eligible position for at least six months by the application deadline for the semester they’re applying for.

To continue being eligible, you must earn a grade of C or higher in each approved TAP course. If you earn a D or below, you’ll need to sit out one semester before participating again.

If you withdraw from an approved TAP course before it ends, you’ll also be ineligible for TAP for one semester.

Maximum Credit Hours

Employees (who meet the applicable admissions standards and who have received appropriate prior authorization from their institution) may enroll in up to nine academic semester credit hours for each of the three designated semester periods: fall semester, spring semester, and summer semester.

Financial Aid, Grant, or Scholarship Recipients

TAP is a supplemental educational assistance employee program. An employee who is eligible for any type of grant, scholarship or financial aid must apply their money toward tuition and fees before receiving a TAP waiver.
