Overview

Susann M. Doyle–Portillo earned her Ph.D. in Social Cognition from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to studying psychology, she earned an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering. She has co-authored a psychology textbook entitled, What is Psychology?, that is now in its fifth edition and is used by college students across the country.

In addition to teaching, Susann is a strong believer in undergraduate research. She is currently conducting research with students on the effects of various online media on communication. She is hoping to bring even more undergraduate research projects online in the near future. Her areas of research interest include the self-concept, perception of reality, and the relationship between the self and use of online media and technology.
