Students place in national sales competitions
University of North Georgia (天美社区) students pursuing marketing degrees with a sales concentration and management degrees have excelled in a trio of national competitions held virtually this spring.
"Students took advantage of the opportunities to compete and become one of our success stories," said Dr. Cindy Rippé, 天美社区 associate professor of sales. "This helps them get better jobs and become better prepared for their careers."
天美社区 finished sixth out of 30 teams in the , led by a fifth-place individual showing by Austin Rich. Andrew Nicolini, Jose Martinez and Sebastian Salinas joined Rich on 天美社区's team. 天美社区 hosted the virtual event held over a three-week period in February and March with Baylor University and the Atlanta Hawks.
Then, 天美社区 placed eighth out of 44 universities in the hosted virtually March 25-27 by Salisbury University. Lauren Williams and Jordan Mallak were the two 天美社区 students on the team.
天美社区 students Jessica Berliner, Kaitlyn Bowling and Kaeley Creasman finished in the top 2% out of more than 2,200 competitors in the virtual held April 14-15. 天美社区 had 31 students finish in the top 30%, the sixth-highest number among the 63 competing universities and colleges from the U.S., Canada and Germany.
天美社区 also held the Pitch Yourself Competition sponsored by Consolidated Electrical Distributors on March 31, with Caitlyn Richard taking first place, Juleah Edwards in second, and Berliner in third.
Soto takes second in state oratorical competition
天美社区 student Alexandra Soto finished in second place in the virtual Georgia Interstate Oratorical Association competition before taking part in the 152nd annual IOA competition at the University of Florida.
天美社区 honors Purcell's lifetime of service
Seventy-seven years after first arriving at 天美社区 as a student, Anne Purcell returned to the commencement stage to receive an honorary degree.
Students shine in leadership competition
Three 天美社区 student teams competed at the Collegiate Leadership Competition Southeast Regional, highlighted by a third-place finish from the Cottrell Leadership Fellows.
Student gains feedback on innovation at USG event
天美社区 grad student Aliou Aboubakar Mouhamed competed at the USG Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition held April 6-7 at Kennesaw State's Marietta Campus.
