Junior named alternate for Rangel Summer program

天美社区 junior Ann Lim was named an alternate for the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program. The program provides undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

As a person who can speak five languages and loves to talk to people, it is no surprise that University of North Georgia (天美社区) junior Ann Lim dreams of working for the .

When the junior pursuing a degree in cybersecurity learned about the , she applied because it met her future career objectives and personality.

"Rangel was very attractive to me because of the opportunities and classes it offered," said the 21-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia. "It teaches you how to socialize, meet people and network with others."

This spring, Lim was named an alternate for the Rangel summer program. If a finalist declines the offer, Lim would be eligible to join the six-week event.

The program provides undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

"It was sweet and sour when I read the email," said Lim, who now plans to apply for the upon completion of her degree at 天美社区 in 2022. "I plan to go to graduate school, too."

This spring, Lim also was selected as a member of the Alumni Student Host team, which is an elite group of students who assist the 天美社区 Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving in hosting visiting alumni and occasionally attend out-of-town alumni events. Lim is one of seven Alumni Student Hosts for the 2021-22 academic year.
