Phi Kappa Phi chapter honored as Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter
The — the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines — has recognized the University of North Georgia (ÌìÃÀÉçÇø) chapter as a Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter for 2020-21. This is the second in time in three years ÌìÃÀÉçÇø has been honored.
The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in operations and demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. It is given to chapters that scored a 90-94 out of 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators.
"This recognition is particularly meaningful for us because of the close alignment with our university values: excellence, student focus, integrity, engagement, and service," said Charlotte Wade, president of ÌìÃÀÉçÇø's chapter.
To be invited to join Phi Kappa Phi, juniors must be in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must be in the top 10%.
Wade is director of compliance oversight at ÌìÃÀÉçÇø.
The program recognized 67 chapters this year, including 26 with the Silver distinction. Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States and the Philippines.
Students excel in cyber competitions
Students from ÌìÃÀÉçÇø excelled in a pair of competitions in the fall: Cyber Siege and the National Cyber League.
ÌìÃÀÉçÇø partners with Intel on AI certificate
Supported by Intel AI Digital Readiness Programs, ÌìÃÀÉçÇø is launching 'AI for Georgia Professionals,' a certificate that includes self-paced online learning and a synchronous online or in-person format.
Investment club wins portfolio competition
Four ÌìÃÀÉçÇø students teamed up to earn first place in the Portfolio Building Competition at the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium Conference in the fall.
Language faculty lead study abroad trips
ÌìÃÀÉçÇø students have access to opportunities this summer to strengthen their language skills and experience international culture through faculty-led study abroad programs in Italy, Peru and Spain.
